πŸ†• New Information

APAAR (ABC) ID Instructions

All newly admitted students are required to submit their APAAR (Academic Bank of Credits) ID during the admission process.

Before You Begin

  • If you already have an APAAR (ABC) ID, simply enter it in Form A.
  • If you do not have an APAAR (ABC) ID, follow the steps below to generate one.
  • Keep your Aadhaar-linked mobile number ready.
1

Open DigiLocker

Go to digilocker.gov.in or download the DigiLocker app.

πŸ’‘ DigiLocker is a free, Government of India digital document wallet β€” available on both Android (Play Store) and iOS (App Store). No prior account is needed to get started.
2

Sign Up / Login

  • Use your mobile number (linked with Aadhaar).
  • Enter OTP to login.
πŸ’‘ First-time users: tap “Sign Up,” enter your mobile number, name, and date of birth exactly as on your Aadhaar card, then set a 6-digit security PIN for future logins.
3

Link Aadhaar

  • Enter your Aadhaar number.
  • Verify with OTP.
  • This is mandatory to generate ABC ID.
πŸ’‘ The OTP is sent only to the mobile number registered with Aadhaar (UIDAI). If it doesn’t arrive, check that your Aadhaar mobile number is current before trying again.
4

Search for ABC Service

In the search bar, type: “ABC ID” or “Academic Bank of Credits”.

πŸ’‘ Look for the search/magnifying-glass icon on the DigiLocker home screen β€” this searches “issued documents” services, not general web search.
5

Click on “Generate ABC ID / APAAR ID”

  • Select the service.
  • Your details (name, DOB, etc.) will auto-fetch from Aadhaar.
  • Identity Value* β€” Fill entry no.
  • Identity Type* β€” Choose ROLL NO.
πŸ’‘ Identity Type is the category dropdown β€” select ROLL NO from it. Identity Value is the actual number you type in β€” this is your IIT Delhi Entry Number (the identifier allotted to you by IIT Delhi at the time of admission/registration), not your JEE (Advanced)/UCEED roll number.
6

Confirm Details

  • Verify all details carefully.
  • Click Submit / Generate.
πŸ’‘ Double-check spelling of your name and your date of birth against your Aadhaar card before submitting β€” mismatches are the most common reason ID generation fails.
7

Get Your ABC ID

  • Your ABC ID will be generated instantly.
  • It will be saved in your DigiLocker account.
πŸ’‘ No waiting period β€” the ID is issued in real time and appears automatically under your DigiLocker “Issued Documents” section.
8

How to Download

  • Go to Issued Documents.
  • Find the ABC ID Card.
  • Download as PDF.
πŸ’‘ Save the PDF to your phone/laptop and also keep a printed copy β€” you’ll need to enter this ID in Form A and may be asked for it again during registration.

Foreign National Students

Please enter 000000000000 (12 zeros) in the ABC/APAAR ID column as it is not applicable for you. It will be in your interest to check the Institute’s website and your Institute email ID on a regular basis for further information/updation, if any.

Important Notes

  • Name and Date of Birth should exactly match Aadhaar records.
  • Use the same mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
  • Students should preserve the downloaded APAAR ID Card for future academic use.
  • APAAR ID is required for credit transfer and maintaining the Academic Bank of Credits.
