Financial Assistance for Students
IIT Delhi is committed to fostering academic excellence by supporting students in their educational journey. To ensure that financial constraints do not hinder talented individuals, the institute offers various financial assistance programs such as scholarships, fellowships, and other forms of aid.

Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarships

The Institute offers Merit-cum-Means scholarships to undergraduate students in engineering and technology and students of M.A., M.Sc. and M.P.P. Programmes. These scholarships are offered to about 25% of the students whose annual family income is upto Rs. 8.0 lakh. The present value of Merit-cum-Means scholarship is Rs.4000/- per month for General / OBC / EWS students on production/uploading of valid family income proof annually on ERP. The recipient is also exempted from paying tuition fee.

For renewal of this MCM Scholarship, students need to maintain minimum SGPA and CGPA i.e. 6.0

Tuition fees Exemption for SC, ST & PwD Students

Tuition fee exemption
is admissible to all SC / ST/PwD students irrespective of their parents’ / guardians’ income. Institute offers several other benefits to students from these categories on production/uploading of valid family income proof annually on ERP.

Free Messing and Pocket Allowance

It covers the basic menu charges plus Rs. 1000/- per month as pocket allowance for SC and ST category for a fixed period of time (depending on the
programme), provided the student’s annual family income is less than Rs. 8.0 lakh. Valid family income proof is required to be uploaded annually on ERP. -
Hostel Seat Rent is also exempted for those SC and ST students whose parental income is less than 8.0 lakh.

Donor Scholarships
There are several donor scholarships in operation at the Institute for undergraduate students. These scholarships are based on family income, programme, gender, branch, JEE rank and Academic performance (SGPA/CGPA). These scholarships have been established by grants from alumni, individuals, trusts and organizations. Valid family income proofs are required to be uploaded annually on ERP. Majority of donor scholarships are auto processed by the Academics Section.

- Monthly stipend for full-time research scholars based on their progress and performance.
- Open to students in all disciplines.
External Fellowships
- Funded by government and private organizations such as UGC, CSIR, and INSPIRE.
- Offers higher stipends to research scholars working on specialized projects.
Postdoctoral Fellowships
- Designed for recent PhD graduates engaged in advanced research.
- Includes a competitive stipend and funding for conferences and workshops.
